Boilerplate (50 words)
Coacalm is the EFT tapping app for iPhone that measures your calm. Users rate their distress on a 0–10 SUDS scale before and after every session — the same scale used in peer-reviewed EFT research. 160 guided sessions across 16 categories, optional on-device live tapping mirror, and full localisation in 5 languages. Available on the Apple App Store.
Why Coacalm exists
The EFT tapping category is dominated by apps with large libraries and aggregate marketing stats. Coacalm is built around a different idea: the most useful thing an EFT app can do is help you measure whether tapping is actually working for you. Every session asks you to rate your distress 0–10 before and after; every claim on the site links to the specific peer-reviewed study behind it. We'd rather you trust the small things than oversell the big ones.
Evidence summary
Coacalm cites real peer-reviewed studies for each mechanism it discusses. Highlights:
- Cortisol. Church et al. 2012 (24% drop after one hour of EFT) and Stapleton et al. 2020 (43% drop in a replication).
- Anxiety. Clond 2016 meta-analysis of 14 studies; Hedges' g = 1.23.
- PTSD. Church et al. 2013: 90% of veteran participants no longer met PTSD criteria after EFT. Sebastian & Nelms 2017 meta-analysis.
- Honest gaps. We're explicit on-site about where the evidence is weaker (vagus nerve / HRV, amygdala-specific effects, sleep).
